Conference introduction
 
In recent years, the construction of sea and land has continued to develop in three directions, “high, deep and heavy” aspects. Higher requirements have been placed on the technology of engineering inspection and monitoring. Pile foundation detection technology, non-destructive testing technology, in-situ testing technology and geotechnical monitoring technology run through the whole process of sea and land construction engineering design, survey and construction. Pile foundation quality inspection is the first step to ensure the quality of the project. The advanced non-destructive testing technology and geotechnical structure monitoring technology will greatly improve the construction quality. With the development of advanced in-situ testing technology abroad, it has also played an important role in solving the problems of land and sea engineering survey and the application prospect is widely broad.

In order to further promote the development of the industry, the "2019 Pile Foundation Testing and Geotechnical Engineering Inspection and Monitoring New Technology Seminar" will be held in Wuhan on 31 July 2019. We sincerely invite all industry experts and scholars to come and visit us.

Conference report

Topic 1: Sharing of pile-based inspection technology

1. Correct application and analysis of low strain

As a non-destructive testing method for pile foundation, evaluating the integrity of pile foundation quickly and conveniently is important to the quality inspection of pile foundation. Our conference will mainly introduce the principle of low-strain testing, combines engineering and examples to illustrate the key points of low-strain field signal acquisition and the precautions for post-processing analysis.


2. Introduction to high strain test

High strain is a method to calculate the bearing capacity of pile foundation by using dynamics principle. Compared with static load, the operation is simpler and the cost is lower, especially for water hitting piles.  In the conference, we will briefly introduce the high strain principle, the calculation method of bearing capacity and the key issues in the field measurement process.

3. New technology for quality control of bored piles

At present, our quality inspection of bored piles is mainly carried out after the pile formation and there is relatively little concern about the quality before the hole formation. In the conference, we will introduce the latest hole quality control equipment, hole bottom sediment thickness test equipment and a new method for evaluating pile integrity through temperature measurement to help users improve the accuracy and reliability of hole quality control from PDI company.




Topic 2: Discussion on new technology of geotechnical structure monitoring

4. Development and application of new theory and technology for geotechnical (structural health) monitoring

 In recent years, China's infrastructure construction has advanced by leaps and bounds, and people have gradually higher safety requirements for geotechnical structures. With the maturity of geotechnical engineering monitoring specifications and technologies, it has made more contributions in infrastructure construction and even disaster assessment. By expounding the status quo of geotechnical monitoring application and new theory of monitoring technology at home and abroad, it promotes domestic geotechnical safety monitoring and structural health monitoring  which develop towards integration, intelligence, digitization and informative criteria’s.



Topic 3: Introduction to Advanced Technologies and Applications of Nondestructive Testing

5. Introduction of Advanced Nondestructive Testing Technology - Array Ultrasonic Transverse Wave Detection and Ultra-Wide Frequency Stepped Frequency Radar Detection

The new equipment enables advanced detection methods to be implemented and brings a new inspection experience. The array ultrasonic tomography scanner adopts advanced technologies such as DFA digital focusing, transverse wave detection and dry point contact sensor to realize single-sided inspection of reinforced concrete in the depth range of 1 m and does not require on-site coating of coupling agent, which greatly saves the detection time. The ultra-wideband stepping frequency radar covers the radar wave range of 0.2-4 GHz through the unique step-frequency continuous wave SFCW technology. The test depth can reach 70 cm and breaks the test depth limitation of the existing conventional handheld radar. In the conference, we will focus on the principles, methods, features of these two new technologies and sharing some test cases.

6. Application of infrared camera in the field of building energy saving

30-50% of energy consumption is concentrated in residential buildings. Insulation and airtight defects in buildings can cause poor indoor air, air leakage and moisture, which leads to energy waste and reduced living comfort. Infrared thermal imager is a kind of diagnosis method with high detection efficiency and no damage to the building itself. In the conference, we will introduce the application of infrared thermal imager in the field of building energy saving and its precautions.



Topic 4: In-situ testing of new technologies and new applications

7. New method and equipment for in-situ testing of soil

In the process of geotechnical investigation, in order to obtain the quantitative indicators of soil physical, mechanical, hydraulic properties and aquifer parameters required for engineering design, geotechnical samples are taken in the laboratory only by exploration. Experiments are often not enough and need to be tested in the original location of the soil. In order to make up for the shortcomings of indoor soil testing, domestic advanced soil in-situ testing techniques and methods have been introduced in China. In the conference, we will focus on technologies and applications such as static penetration, flat shovel, side pressure, and cross plate shearing.


8. New methods and equipment for in-situ testing of rock mass

In recent years, in-situ testing technology for geotechnical engineering has been applied more popular in China. The level of in-situ testing technology has been continuously improved. However, compared with developed countries in Europe and America, China's geotechnical in-situ testing technology still fell behind. Therefore, the conference will focus on introducing various advanced rock mass in-situ testing technologies and equipment for reference by domestic counterparts.

Zhang Xiaoyan

Chief Technical Officer / Manager of Non-destructive Business Unit of Earth Products China Limited

Tongji University Master of Nondestructive Testing, Tongji University and the University Of Pittsburgh, USA, jointly trained in biomedical and engineering doctors (mainly engaged in biomechanical finite element modeling). In 1999, she began to work on the promotion of non-destructive testing technology, participated in the compilation of various testing standards and served as a member of the Professional Committee of Nondestructive Testing Technology for the Construction of Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Branch of China Civil Engineering Society. She has published more than 10 articles in well-known domestic and foreign journals with rich theoretical knowledge and professional background.









Xu Xiaolin

Product Manager / Foundation Products Division of Earth Products China Limited

Bachelor of Geotechnical Engineering at Southeast University, received a senior certificate from the US Pile Foundation Dynamic Testing Capability Test. She has engaged in pile testing for nearly 10 years, mainly responsible for high-strain, low-strain field testing and post-analysis processing. She has rich experience in on-site testing.










Zheng Jiang

Product Manager / In-situ Products Division of Earth Products China Limited

Graduated from Hebei University of Geosciences, majoring in geotechnical engineering, master's degree. Now working in Earth Products China Limited as a geotechnical in-situ testing technical engineer. He focus on geotechnical in-situ testing equipment and test methods, and researches and introduces the latest in-situ test methods from abroad. He also participated in the on-site construction and guidance of large-scale projects such as ground-based exploration of the Hong Kong International Airport Expansion Project and engineering geological exploration of the Padma Bridge in Bangladesh.









Jing Hong

Assistant Product Manager / Geotechnical Products Division of Earth Products China Limited

Intermediate engineer, bachelor degree in water conservancy and hydropower engineering. From July 2007 to July 2013, he worked at East China Survey and Design Institute. During the period, he located in Sichuan Liangshan Jinping II Hydropower Station (installed 4.8 million kW) and served as the deputy chief engineer and project manager of the company's safety monitoring and management center project. He completed the progress monitoring, building quality monitoring and safety of underground projects such as plant hubs, character analysis and other work.

Since July 2013, he has worked in Guangzhou Earth Products China Limited as a sales engineer, sales manager, technical engineer and assistant product manager. At present, he is the assistant product manager of the Geotechnical Products Department, responsible for geotechnical monitoring products. He is familiar with geotechnical engineering applications and problem solving at home and abroad. He can combine the actual situation of the project and create the most suitable product solution for the users.
