Earth Products China Limited won the bid of the GDS Ring Shear Apparatus (GDSRSA) at China University of Geosciences.
 
GDSRSA is a modern, compact, desktop ring shear system that allows for fully automated testing. The GDSRSA allows for a torsional ring shear test. Under drainage conditions, the rotary shearing force is continuously applied by a stepper motor until a constant residual shear stress is obtained. During the test, the shear plane of the cross-sectional area of the specimen did not change. The GDS ring shears apply consolidation stress through a GDS force actuator, control and data acquisition via a computer (with USB connection), and an external load cell directly measures the axial and shear stresses applied to the sample.
