Marine soft clay with weak engineering properties, is widely distributed in Southeast China. As the most developed area in China, Zhejiang has a vast transportation infrastructure including highways, roads, railways and airport runways, which have been constructed on marine clay. With long-term vehicle loading, excess settlement tends to occur on the existing infrastructure. In order to reveal these effects on the marine clay and to predict future settlement, research was undertaken by Wenzhou University.
Vehicle loading is not only a long-term cyclic loading, it is unique in the shape of stress path’s during each cycle. Along with the wheels, approaching and then leaving, the stress components of the soil change in both magnitude and direction.

Earth Products China are excited to present to you GDS new range of hydraulic load frames for soil & rock testing. The range is available from 100kN to 1.5MN, encompassing their latest design and technology. The load frames have hydraulic dynamic actuators mounted on the cross beam. This allows cyclic dynamic axial stress/strain testing to be performed. The frames can be used to perform standard static testing without any modification.

The Hydraulic Load Frame Range are for soil & rock testing. The load frames have hydraulic dynamic actuators mounted on the cross beam. This allows cyclic dynamic axial stress/strain testing to be performed. The frames can be used to perform standard static testing without any modification. The systems are capable of dynamically controlling axial displacement or axial force and can be synchronised with an optional dynamic cell pressure actuator (radial stress), to give an advanced capability of dynamic stress path testing.

Seminar and Exhibition
October was a busy month of exhibition and seminar for Earth Products China. On one hand we have hosted a pile testing and monitoring sharing in our office with various parties including industry leaders, government agencies, etc. On the other hand, we had participated in Symposium on Application of Geotechnics and Geophysics on Coastal Development hosted by the macau Association for Geotechnical Engineering in Macau.
