PDI Cross-Hole Analyzer (CHAMP)
For Cross-hole and Single-hole sonic logging
The Cross-Hole Analyzer (CHAMP) determines the quality and consistency of the concrete of drilled shafts, slurry walls, bored piles, cast-in-situ piles and other types of concrete foundations.
The Test
A Transmitter in one tube sends a high frequency signal that travels through the concrete and is detected by a receiver in another tube. As these sensors are raised and / or lowered along the length of the foundation, they progressively scan the concrete for signal strength versus time and depth. Scanning various tube combinations for the entire shaft allows evaluation of concrete quality and defect location along the length and by quadrant.
Results
Data is transferred to a computer for review and additional analysis with CHA-W and Tomosonic and for report preparation.

"The CHAMP meets or exceeds the specifications for Cross-hole sonic logging required by D6760-08 Standard Test Method for Integrity Testing of Concrete Deep Foundations by Ultrasonic Cross-hole Testing. The CHAMP is small, light and operable by a color touch-screen visible in all lighting conditions. Its internal battery, designed to last an entire day of normal testing, frees the tester from a power source, allowing easy movement between shafts. Essential analysis is performed in the field in real time.
Field data is further analyzed by the CHA-W software, which outputs graphs such as First Arrival Time, Wave Speed, Waterfall Diagram and Energy Plot, and aids in test report preparation."
